2025 Summer Science Camps

This Summer we will be offering full day science camps for kids ages 6-12 in Cupertino! Week long camps will run from 9 am to 3 pm combining exciting experiments, storytelling, free exploration STEM activities, and more! Camp Themes

One if by Air, Two if by Sea!

Learn science while playing with water and flight!

Dates: June 9-12 and July 14-18, ages 6-12

  • Hovercraft — Can you ride on a cushion of air?
  • Oobleck — Is it a liquid? A solid? Can you make it dance?
  • Water Bottle Rockets — Use air pressure to propel a rocket the length of the parking lot!
  • Sunken Rafts — How many pennies can your boat keep afloat?
  • Helicopters — Create and explore whirling helicopters!
  • Sail Boats — Can you make a boat that sails with the wind?
  • Popping Boba — Explore molecular gastronomy and create a tasty treat!
  • Archimedes Spiral — How can you make water flow uphill?
  • Giant Bubbles — Can you fit inside a bubble?
  • Water Balloon Launchers — Use multiple types of launchers for the ultimate water balloon battle!
  • Flying Cylinders and Paper Helicopters — Create unique aircraft out of paper!
  • Balloon Rockets — Can you make a two stage rocket out of balloons?
  • Floating Whiteboard Drawings — Create drawings that float on water!

Chain Reactions and Machines!

Energy transfers, simple machines, and more!

Dates: June 23-27 and July 28-August 1, ages 6-12

  • Chain Reactions — Send a chain of craft sticks flying!
  • Water Clocks — Can you create a clock with dripping water? 
  • Swinging Pendulums — What makes a pendulum swing faster? Higher?
  • Gyroscopes — How does that spinning bike tire stay on the string?
  • Electrical Switches — Create your own switches to turn on lights and motors!
  • Ropes and Pulleys — Can you lift your friend?
  • Waterwheels — Create power with flowing water!
  • Balancing Creatures — Can you make a creature that balances on its nose?
  • Electromagnets — Can you hit a falling can across the room using electricity and magnets?
  • Carnival Games — Learn the secrets to win those games!
  • Marble Roller Coasters — Create a marble roller coaster that winds around the room!
  • Levers and Seesaws Could a mouse and an elephant balance on a board?
  • Rube Goldberg Machine — Take all those simple machines and combine them into a wacky creation!

It’s Electric!

Create, explore, and design with electricity and light!

Dates: July 7-11 and August 4-8, ages 6-12

  • Hand Crank Electricity — Create electricity with kid power!
  • Electric Motors — Build a motor using wire, a magnet, and a battery!
  • Fiber Optics — Can light follow a twisting path?
  • Exploding Bubbles — Use electricity to create hydrogen and make bubbles explode with a bang!
  • Mixing Colored Lights — Can you make a 6 color shadow?
  • Copper Plating — Turn a dime into a penny!
  • Kaleidoscopes — Create patterns with color and light!
  • Smoke Rings — How do you create smoke rings that travel across the room?
  • Metal Etching — Use electricity to etch designs into metal!
  • Electromagnets — Create a magnet using electricity!
  • Static Electricity — Can you levitate a ring or make your hair stand on end?
  • Laser Sound Waves — Watch your voice become dancing designs with a balloon and a laser!

Location

For the Summer of 2025 our Summer Camps will be held at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church in Cupertino. In addition to our indoor, air conditioned classroom the campus includes shaded, outdoor tables, a playground, and space both on grass and on a blocked off parking lot for larger, wetter, and messier experiments!

St. Jude’s is located at 20902 McClellan Road in Cupertino. It is situated on three acres of land at the southeast corner of Stelling and McClellan Roads, diagonally across from DeAnza College. You can enter the parking lot from either road.
